Biography:

Stanford Kimmel is a Partner at Cowie Law Group, P.C. with more than 15 years of experience as a litigation, contract, and business lawyer. Mr. Kimmel leads the firm’s general counsel practice, providing comprehensive legal services to condominium associations and community associations. In addition to providing litigation and collection services, Mr. Kimmel advises associations in matters of governance, declaration and by-Law interpretation and compliance, architectural controls, assessments, contracts, insurance, easements, liability, and developer transition. Mr. Kimmel also represents property owners, contractors, businesses, and individuals in litigation, business, and real estate matters.

Mr. Kimmel has negotiated, litigated, and arbitrated numerous complex construction and design defect disputes, contractor payment disputes, mechanic’s liens, and other contract and business disputes, and has drafted and negotiated a variety of contracts and agreements on behalf of individual and corporate clients. Mr. Kimmel has served as a speaker on topics affecting community associations at various seminars conducted by the Community Association Institute Chesapeake Regional Chapter.

Mr. Kimmel served as trial attorney for the Cowie Law Group, P.C. (formerly known as “Cowie & Mott, P.A.”) litigation team in achieving one of the largest jury verdicts ever awarded in Maryland against a national builder for construction defects in a residential condominium development.

Mr. Kimmel is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Maryland (2005) as well as the United Stated District Court for the District of Maryland (2006). Mr. Kimmel graduated at the top of his class from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Magna Cum Laude (2005) where he served on the Law Review. Mr. Kimmel received his undergraduate degree from Towson University with a B.A. in Mass Communication, Cum Laude (2002).
